My dear Henry
I am sorry we shall miss each other – I was some weeks in London & had enough. Where will you be in town?
What a good man your Dutchman must be – pray give me his address & Catalogue before he raises his price which every one does in London – & leave it in Burlington St 3 – it will be forwarded.
Do you remember getting Cape bulbs of an Ignoramus who printed an absurd bit which – with his prices – deterred rather than invited custom. I got of him several things that died Gladiolus viperatus & others, but one fine bulb Crinum Natalense I suppose the Great Natal Lily was his name I think, flowers every year at Abby 4 under a wall, with Brunsvigias &c – & is very handsome, & delicately fragrant.
I find I can keep alive at Abb– some nice Australian & N.Z. ferns – whether they will grow large is a question – My seeds of Pinus muricata grow beautifully.
No time for more. My love to Matilda – & her family 5. do they come too?
We are soon going into Lincolnshire 6 this house being under, I am sorry to say, a large measure of repair.
