Dear Sir,

In answer to the question as to “what sum I place to Mr Talbots 3 Account as patent dues”? My rule is to debit myself £25 perCt on the selling prices of originals and Copies wch are not more than one guinea, without reference to any thing which I may do to them in the way of my business as as <sic> a Miniature Painter – The Clause in the original Licence which gave rise to the vexed question of working on the Portraits being proposed by Mr Talbot and agreed by me to be considered as not contained therein –

I am Dr Sir &c

“Henry Collen”

H.F.Talbot Esq
