My dear Mr Talbot,
Your paper was read, and will be printed in extenso 1 with the exception of your apologies at the beginning.
I was greatly delighted with the whole proceedings in Section A, 2 and we had something like 16 Senior & Second Wranglers or Smith’s Prizemen – Adams, Cayley, Stokes, Sylvester, Maxwell, Challis, Kelland, Hon. J.W. Strutt, Wilson, Hopkinson, Glaisker &c &c &c Colding of Copenhagen & Bierens de Haan were my guests.
I gave them a discourse on Thermoelectric Currents, and a Second provisional Report on Thermal Conductivity.
St Claire Deville 3 has kindly undertaken to make wires of Nickel & Cobalt for me.
Yours truly
P.G. Tait
