Lacock Abbey, Chippenham
April 10. 1839
Dear Sir
I send the enclosed 1 not as being a very well chosen object, but as a specimen of fixation by Iodine. It does not change at all by daylight today, but in truth it is very cloudy weather which does not afford a sufficient test of the fixation. I have sent an account of your diminished pictures to the Literary Gazette 2 where you will find considerable vituperation of me by an artist of the name of Willmore. 3
Yesterday I obtained some very interesting results, & I am in hopes they will lead to a new branch of the Art.
Yours most truly
H. F. Talbot
