TALBOT3866

Tuesday

Dear Henry

The Key you ask for is locked up. That place you know is always open when I am at home, and I never remember your looking at anything in it. Au surplus 1 I should not like it to be at the mercy du premier venu, 2 as there are scarce & valuable prints in it. The Orleans Gallery was left out all last year on one of the side tables in the Dining room, & I have a moral conviction that Mrs Groves let the Children play with it or at least look over (in the way of course that children do) for I found many of those fine prints loosened, which certainly they were not before.

I enclose a bit of black lace, & am in great admiration of the head from Coloured ancient glass, & particularly the middle window of the South Gallery 3 which looks so conventical & of a Rembrandt tint. I shall not give the other <pastel?> to Louisa 4 till after tomorrow the great day, as the house will be all dessus dessous 5

affly yrs
