Lacock Abbey
March 5.
My dear Henry,
I was extremely pleased to get your letter this morning, for I had quite made up my mind that you would not find time to write. It is a great satisfaction to know that your Coachman & horses took you in safety. – & I hope they will behave equally well throughout.
Chicks 1 & I, Donkey, Edward 2 & Nurses have been enjoying this beautiful day by a walk to the top of Bowden hill – Rebecca 3 has not been guilty of any fresh piece of carelessness, & I hope will not in future – but I will take her conduct into serious consideration & talk it over with Bennett 4–
The children are all quite well & do their best to entertain me in your absence – by giving me their company at breakfast & dinner –
This letter is the only one that has come for you yet – The Globe arrives regularly as usual –
I propose to sow seeds tomorrow – & in mean time I have given the Culinary ones & others to J. Humphries 5 –
Your affectionate
Constance.
