My dear Henry
I have a letter from Aunt Matilda 1 this morning, in which she expresses a strong wish that I should call upon & make acquaintance with Mrs John Drummond (her first cousin) - formerly, she says, Georgiana Finch, sister to George Finch 2 - She writes me the whole history of her extreme affection for this Cousin, & how certain she is of my liking her &c &c - I have therefore written in answer that I will call though the time is now short for making acquaintance - But I want you to tell me, as soon as you possibly can, whether I am right in supposing these Finches to be honorable - for in case of a note passing between Mrs Drummond & myself, it would be very awkward to make a mistake in the address ing her - I have just accomplished an interview with Mr Smith the Dancing master - whose manner I like extremely - He will give a lesson of ¾ of an hour on Tuesdays & Fridays at 3/6 per lesson - He lives at Dorchester, but comes over on those days to hold his Academy. He can only come at the early hour of nine - but that is a very good time for little folks such as Ela & Rosamond 3 - I think he is exactly the person to suit us, because he instructs in walking & deportment as well as in executing steps.
Your affectionate
Constance
We had still grand waves this morning at high tide - I wish you had been here to see them! - my only consolation is that perhaps you would not have liked to rise so early as 9 o'clock to look at them.
