London Wednesday

My Dear Constance

I send you a book for your birthday, which I have no doubt is very interesting and very wise, tho’ I have not yet read it myself.

A trifling sum shall likewise be yours which I have received from Claudet for the portraits he took last year – It is enough to buy something pretty with.

At length my second number has got into the publishers hands. He seems to approve of it very much – Nicole is going to give a lecture on the subject at Reading – I think I shall go down to hear. However, it is not to be till March –

M. Claudet gave a lecture on Photography to the Society of Arts & a crowded audience of strangers on last Wednesday.

Your aff^te

Henry
