Friday April 4th
My dear Henry
I am glad to think of your going back to London yesterday, for I did not like your being at Lacock alone –
I have received 2 Globes 1 this morning – one of which must have come direct from Yarrell & Jones 2 – according to your orders –
Thanks for your offer of books – but I am well supplied – and indeed the fine weather leaves me very little time for reading – I shall like your commission at the Nursery Garden – I think it is an excellent opportunity as the plants can scarcely suffer from being out of the ground so short a time. I saw a white Hepatica which is very pretty & worth having –
I shall expect to hear from you very soon about our going to Sackville Street 3 – and whether I am to leave Clifton 4 at the end of my fortnight – I don’t wish to put off London if it suits at the expiration of that time – and a few days at Lacock will be all that I shall require – but if Lady Elisabeth 5 is not ready for us so soon, of course I had better give Ela 6 another week here – Please to give my love to Horatia 7 & wish her goodbye for me 8–
Your affectionate
Constance –
I am so glad your faithful Nightingale has returned – it appears to be very early for them to sing – but really it is like Summer – and I am sitting without any fire today –
