Corsham Court June 11th 1845. –
Dear Sir/
Yesterday I had occasion to go to Melksham and I went viâ Lacock – this gave me an opportunity of taking a cursory view of the line of Railway thro’ your Estate. – I was agreeably disappointed to find that the line is upwards of six furlongs from your residence –, but, of course, you are acquainted with the line intended to be taken, – and I suppose Lord Methuens Bailiff pointed it out correctly to me – I had no Plan. –
If any suggestion from me would tend to be of use to you, I would most cheerfully make it; and I may at once say that I think you ought not to receive less than Two hundred pounds per Acre for the land and severance. –
I am Dear Sir Your obedt Servt
Chas Bailey
