My dear Mr Talbot
I have left a copy of Petrie’s book 1 at your house believing that you will wish to have it & will doubtless be much interested by it. – The price of the work is 2 guineas & a half which should you keep it can be paid to me – the expences have been so great that there is scarce [sic] any hope of poor Petrie receiving any remuneration for the years of work which it has cost him: & therefore I am anxious th to sell as many copies as I can, direct, myself which saves his publisher twenty eight per cent. You may have already ordered the book & if so, my copy can be sent back –
Believe me Yours most truly
Adare
