My dear Henry
I love Aunt Matilda 1 more than ever for the comforting things she said to you – Is she not a perfect Angel! – I hope you will see her again – at her own house, if she should not again be able to get to Sackville Street. 2 Dear Lady Lansdowne 3 too! – I had spoken to the children 4 in the way you wished, 5 before – and I did so again today – more strongly – and they were all much affected – particularly Rosamond – whose heart overflows with affection –
Some days ago, when I asked her to chuse a pleasure for her Birthday, she said how much she should like Miss King 6 to spend the day with her. – I think I can manage this for her quietly – and it will spare me all painful exertion to make the day pass off like a Birthday – & I cannot see any objection to it, if Mrs Awdry 7 can spare her –
Pray take care of your own health dear Henry – consider how precious you are to us all!
Your affectionate
Constance. –
