Marle Hill 1
Monday
My dear Henry
I have been very happy indeed & the children 2 – also my Uncle & Aunt 3 are so kind & so glad to have us – They have pressed us exceedingly to stay longer than Thursday but as you told me distinctly that you wished me not to stay longer, I said at once I could not – & I also explained some of the reasons – I have decided to be at Chippenham at ½ past five which will be quite early enough for the children’s bed time & tea. – I will write myself to Mr Lawes 4 for a Fly & have enclosed this note to Betsy 5 in case of your being from home – to send the cart to Chippenham for me –
We are expecting a grand treat tomorrow of Fire works at the Pitteville gardens 6 – & are anxiously hoping for fine weather. –
Tomorrow morning Sophy Dowdeswell 7 is to call here on her way to London –
The children are very well – & so much admired by their great Uncle & Aunt –
Marian 8 sends her love –
Your affectionate
Constance.
I write in a great hurry, as you will discover the carriage being ordered for a drive –
