2 Mall 1 –
Thursday March 26th
My dear Henry
I shall be very glad to go home on Monday. – and I am extremely pleased to think that I shall see Caroline. 2 – I was far from expecting that I should be allowed to see her – Thank you very much for the Times 3 – I will take care of it – I see there are new victories in India 4 – but what hard fighting! –
Clifton is so agreeable to Mlle D 5– that she has been quite sprightly – I am almost angry with her for being so mondaine. Even the sharpness of the wind that she would have shrunk from at Lacock in our sheltered garden, she does not feel here – She is become a new creature. –
Charles’s 6 greatest delight is seeing the vessels – & Steam packets on the River – and his remarks on them & other objects are very intelligent. – He is as usual very much admired. –
I wish the weather had happened to be a little milder & drier while we were here – as it is impossible to enjoy the walks – but our house is not at all cold – Your letter seems to say it is the same with you –
My love to Caroline & to Horatia 7 – I shall like very much to talk a little to Caroline – on various subjects. –
Your affectionate
Constance. –
