TALBOT5756

Holly Lodge Kensington
December 20. 1856

Dear Talbot,

Thanks for your little work. I have read it but, of course, am unable to judge of it without the Commentary. I have no doubt, however, that you have done all that human ingenuity can do towards the deciphering of these Cylinders.

Lord Lansdowne was so kind as to ask me to Bowood; and, had I been able to go thither, I should have been delighted to renew my acquaintance with Lacock. But I now find it necessary to pass may winters by my own fireside.

Ever your truly,
T B Macaulay
