Lacock Abbey
Tuesday June 28.
My dear Henry
You have not lost any letters from me – I only wrote twice – and yet I have nothing to say in explanation of Ela’s indisposition. – She was ailing when you left here & you fancied it was because she wanted change of air – but it was [illegible] accidental and she is now nearly stout again –
I wrote a line to Mr Kenrick to tell him what you had done for him – Horatia had a gracious answer from Lord L. today – promising to bear Mr Kenrick in mind if his opinion was consulted respecting the appointments in North Wilts – and if Mr K. was not opposed by Dr Green[illegible]ss. –
I hope your Photographic conversation at Oxford passed off pleasantly – I long to hear all about it and also your travels – when shall you come and tell us all? – I suppose you did not see a house to your liking at Rhyl [sic] or elsewhere. –
Our haymaking began yesterday with the fine weather, I hope it may last: particularly as Sun is wanted for everything and our Summer-winter has lasted quite long enough – Horatia is meditating a visit to the Howards at Hagloby[?] but is not quite decided – It seems that they are coming to Bowood on the 10th July – where Lady Lansdowne will stay a wee bit before they go to Wisbaden [sic] –
Your affectionate
Constance.
