Bath Wednesday
Octr. 20th
My dear Henry
I return you both the welcome letters you sent us to read – Caroline has set out charmingly – & Horatia seems to be getting on as well as possible – Mlle A has written today to Caroline at Frankfort. – I shall wait till she gives another address – She was very good in doing my commission in London & I have received the parcel safely –
I thought Ela appeared brisker yesterday – the weather was mild & pleasant & she went out with Mlle & me in the carriage for a short time – Today we did the same – ending with a little turn in the Nursery garden – but it was much colder though bright – She is more languid again today – but I think the tonics are certainly agreeing with her and I shall hope to see more decided improvement in a short time – Dr W. will call again tomorrow. <illeg> he says he is very sensible & prudent. –
I mean to send <Careass?> to Lacock one day this week to see that everything is comfortable there & to give orders about warming the house for our return on Tuesday.
We saw an Aloe just going out of flower at Claverton.
Your affectionate
Constance.
