TALBOT6023

16 St James’s Square

Friday

My dear Henry

I have no wish whatever ^(thanks) to take Ela to any other place at present – it is not any particular air that can cure her – & I believe home is as likely to suit her as anything else – The Poney carriage when the weather is fine, & walking on flat ground instead of up & down hill will just suit her. It is very good & kind of you to think of trying anything else for her – but I believe it to be unnecessary. – She caught a cold the other day when we drove to Claverton, but in other respects I hope she is proceeding satisfactorily – I don’t think her looking much better, but she is more animated. – We have been Bonnet hunting today – rather a tiresome affair, as all the Beaver bonnets were of such an ugly shape – and after ordering some, I have determined to indulge my maternal vanity by presenting them with pretty ones for Sunday & visiting, as well as the others And Madme <Chomouillah?> herself is going to be so polite as to make them. –

I have nothing new to tell you dear Henry, except that I have persuaded Mlle A to remain a week after Us in a little apartment on the South Parade – to rest herself & drink the waters & bathe comfortably. It did her so much good to be here a little while by herself last year – I think you will approve – and I keep to my day (Tuesday next) for going home –

Your affectionate

Constance.

Mr Awdry called here yesterday, & brought me some money.
