d. 16. <Febr.?> 1873.

Esteemed Sir

I see from a Notice by Lenormant, that you have published a treatise on that very important piece: The descent of Ishtar to the infernal regions (with translation etc.). Given that I have busied myself <from time to time?> on a closer analysis of this memorable piece, ti would be of the greatest interest to me, to be able to take a look at your publication, could you therefore make your treatise available to me <very soon?>, I would be <beholden/grateful?> to you. As a humble antidoron to the <small?> evidence of my gratitude, allow me to enclose to you an <offprint?> of my latest publication in the Zeitschrift der Deutsche-Morgenländische Gesellschaft, on the ancestry of the Chaldeans and the <origin? in location? source?> of the Semites, which perhaps will not be uninteresting to you.

With deepest respect <yours?>

Prof. Dr. Eberhard Schrader
