TALBOT6111

Plympton
Feby 20 1848

Dear Sir

I beg to thank you for acquainting me with Lord Mt Edgcumbe’s 1 movements – His last letter to me was dated the 22d January – I would perceive his inclination then was to Land, and resume possession of his former residence, if circumstances permitted – but that he was very doubtful what course events would take – Perhaps the best guarantee for the safety of the English residents, will be the withdrawal of the Neapolitan troops, and the removal of the danger of conflict; – and still more the presence of an English Man of War –

His absence is, at the present moment, most unfortunate for a matter which may naturally affect the personal comfort of the Family at Mount Edgcumbe. – The Vicarage of Maker 2 has just become vacant by the death of the Incumbent, the Presentation belonging to the Lord Chancellor; – and as the Clergyman of the Parish is Lord Mt E’s Almone 3, & there must be much intercourse between them, the appointment is one in which he must take great interest. I think his wishes would be to retain the present Curate, who is his Lordship’s domestic Chaplain, and has been at Maker for 14 or 15 years. – I wrote to Lord Mt E. as soon as the intelligence of the vacancy was received here. –

I am Dear Sir
Your faithful Servt
Deeble Boger
