My Dear Talbot /
Hart Mundy1 writes me word that you never have had a copy of Wollastons Persius2 – I felt confident you had had one sent you long ago, probably of the first Edition in his lifetime or I should have not omitted you amongst those to whom the second Edition was forwarded – this I now send; it was prepared by him with the additions of some of the Odes of Horace, all the first edition having been given away, & it being intended by him to print a Second edition tho’ not for Sale.
I have been very much amused by your Etymologies<3> for which I thank you extremely – tho I do not allow that there ever was such a word as “Sparrow Grass” – that being only a Vulgar corruption of Asparagus.
Remember me to Mrs Talbot3
& believe me to be Yours very truly
James Frampton
I will send the Persius by some Bath Coach.
