TALBOT6150

Lacock Abbey Thursday

June 15th

My dear Henry

Mlle Amélina had a letter from Horatia yesterday dated the 1st of June – She sends it you to read & begs you will keep it for her unless you prefer returning it by the post. You will see that there is nothing fixed about their coming home – I believe they do in fact enjoy living abroad: which is strange, when one considers what a beautiful place they possess at home – I suppose Lord Mt E. still thinks of the last winter he passed there, when he was ill so many months. But he never can be sure of a long interval of health, wherever he may seek it – besides I fear they will end by getting involved in difficulty. – It is plain that Horatia will be the last to propose coming home – what do you think of Annie – ? I am almost surprised that her dream of happiness still lasts! –

I am glad you have bought some more plants – I have told Wilkins to expect them and also that you wish the lights of the conservatory to be removed immediately – I was talking to him today in that greenhouse at one o’clock & never was nearer being broiled – this wd have been a much more suitable day for the Horticultural show than last Saturday. It is very hot – & yet there is a delightful air –

Our Constitutionals have come quite right since – I hope you will renew the abonnement in time. –

Your affectionate

Constance.
