TALBOT6249

London
Tuesday 10th July

My dear Henry

The account of Ld Mt E 1 on Friday was very good indeed & they meant to leave Moulins Saturday early – but that morning he had a little gout in his hand & could not set off. Sunday however Mr F. 2 said he was better & hoped really to be able to proceed Monday. They talked of starting at 5½ in the morning to catch the 10’o train at [Nérondes?] – which I think was rather rash in his state. If they did, they could easily be here on Thursday. Caroline 3 is not arrived but we expect her about 6. It has been very hot since Friday but seems cooler today. Yesterday I went to see the exhibition of amateur drawings really most creditable to the talents of the beau monde. Some extremely pretty – & to the French play where I had not been for ages & was much amused. Nicole 4 brought my picture to show me – but took it away to touch it up. Baby’s I have not seen yet. I am afraid she moved her eyes a little. I suppose if I decided to send the books from Sackville St 5 to Laycock, it could not be till you had some bookcases to receive them – & I hardly know where there would be room. I had some thoughts of going to look at them & choose a few to take down – only I do not like going to the poor old house now. – The remaining wine in the cellar I have sold to Mr Young, for 2 guineas a doz. all one with the other taking the chance, which I thought a very good bargain
