TALBOT6288

Dec. 4th 1876.

40. Cordingley Street
Otley Road
Bradford.

Dear Sir.

May I request the favor of explanations of the following monumental names at your earliest convenience, as I am preparing a considerably enlarged Edition of my little work on Scripture names, & wish to make it as complete & accurate as possible. –

(1) Milki-Asaph, king of Gubal, & Kulu-Baal, king of Arvard. Records of the Past. Vol.iii.p.107.lines 16,17.

(2)Ussur-milki, king of Ashdod. Ib. p.108.

3. Musallim-Maruduk, Records of the Past. Vol. v. p.95, & Samas-Mubanit. Ib. p. 109.

4. Silim-Assur, Ib. Vol. vii. p.114. appears to be nearly similar to Nabu-Sallim, of course a transposition of the divine name. &c

5. Muodach-mudamanik. Ib. Vol. v. p.54., & Nabu-damig. Smith’s Assyrian Discoveries. p.413, appear to be partly formed of the same root & the name of a deity. Hoping you will excuse the liberty I have taken in troubling you again.

I am, dear Sir, yours very respy
Wm Greenwood Hird
