Dear Talbot
I send you some of the Limpets and am sorry I could not send you any living ones – The snow was 3 or 4 inches deep the other day but in less than four & twenty hours it was all gone, the thermometer was as high as 50 fifty at 11 o’clock PM – I send you also 2 species of Nidularia & some mosses which I could not make out without Smith 1 as we have not the Index to Lowerly yet – a specimen of Ground Pine & Assarum [sic] Europæum – You may let me know whether you receive the shells safe – N.B. they are very tender –
yours very truly In haste
