Lacock Abbey
Wednesday
My dear Henry
Your letter was a great pleasure to me this morning – and I was so glad that you had the comfort of finding Lady Elisth 1 better when you arrived. – I hope you are better too. – Caroline 2 will do you good – I am so glad she was sent for – Will you tell her of your idea about her inviting Mlle A 3. to Mt Edgcumbe 4 – that we may know what we have to reckon upon when the time comes – She will say whether the plan will suit her. –
Mr Little 5 sent here today to enquire when you were expected home – I said I could not tell positively but that you had talked of Friday or some day at the end of the week –
I drove over to Sloperton 6 today – Mrs Moore was out – but I saw Mr Moore 7 – He talked about his Sister 8 – & what he had suffered from the sudden shock – He said he felt still quite upset and weakened by it – I thought him looking ill & unlike himself – and more absent than ever – He walked with Matilda 9 & me round the garden where Mrs Moore’s flowers are in great beauty – and said we had done him good –
He enquired very much after you & your proceedings – and was very sorry the railroad was annoying you. –
Your affectionate
Constance.
