The Wilts Militia joined the royal army in opposing Monmouth 1685. The Day after the battle of Sedgemoor, Sherrington Talbot fell in a duel with an artillery officer – I enquired of the present Mr Talbot for their further particulars of that event – and the annexed was his reply –

Mr H. Fox Talbot is the inventor of the Talbotype, and the author of a small philosophical work on English derivations
