Thursday Nov. 6th.
My dear Henry
Mlle. Amélina was very much pleased with the letter she received from you yesterday. – You had lost none of ours: – the girls did not write to you till yesterday – and I only wrote once during the journey – being too much fatigued each night on arriving at the Inns. We have still an immensity of things to settle here after our long absence before we can feel unpacked & comfortable – and all of us have caught cold more or less but I dare say they will be all well before you come – Mlle. Amélina was very well yesterday – but she had a sudden attack of rheumatism at night & this morning could not leave her bed – She says that if you have any business with Mr. Stillwell, she would thank you to ask him whether he has received the legacy of £100 which Mr. Gairford was to pay – If you don’t see him, she can write herself to ask the question –
I have also a little commission to give you if not troublesome. – it is to pay a year’s abonnement in my name to the Modes Parisienne, from the 1st. Nov. of the present year. – The sum is £1..4..0. to be paid to Madame Frederick 40 Albemarle St. and to desire they will send the Journal as before to Lacock Abbey – beginning with the 1st. No of the month – which did not come owing to the abonnement having expired.
I wrote to Mr. Gairford on Tuesday, but had no answer this morning –
Your affectionate
Constance
