TALBOT6589

Easter Sunday. Lacock Abbey.

My dear Henry

The carriage shall meet you at the time appointed to-morrow. I am sorry I did not know you expected a bulletin – but all going on well there was nothing to occasion my writing again – Caroline came – which I thought you knew, as you were in correspondence with her, and had just before met her in London – She staid from Tuesday till Saturday: – and then felt anxious to re-join her boys – for their remaining week’s vacation – Charles has not written since his description of the Siorée at Basingstoke – and the mesmerised Cook –

It was quite a pity you could not be at home for Caroline’s visit, as she comes so rarely – but it was to a certain degree fortunate that you left us both the Servants, otherwise we could not possibly have received her – I am sorry you have felt <ill.del.> cold in London: here it has not been unpleasant, – generally bright & gay – though certainly the wind has been cold – Caroline was out in the garden a long time on Thursday – and admired the Conservatories &c – Ernestine’s cold was not well enough to allow of her going out, which she much regretted. Matilda has been out today & yesterday – but Ela keeps at home still as a measure of prudence. They are nearly as well as usual and all dined together on Friday – Yr affectionate

Constance
