My dear Henry
Thanks in the name of all for giving us the Canary-birds – We chose the pair yesterday after receiving your letter – and today the woman is suiting them with a cage. And tomorrow we hope they will be brought home. They are to have a bag of materials for making a nest, which she says they are impatient to begin – Thanks for your good report of the kittens – We had an unpleasantly boisterous day yesterday – and today it is worse still, with rain – a cold rain seems so thoroughly unreasonable.
The letter you forwarded to us today is from my Brother proposing to pay us a visit at Lacock on Saturday – I have written to ask him to come here instead, & that we will go home together on Tuesday.
Dowlen in coming over on a little business tomorrow, if the weather permits –
About Mr Joyer’s Magic Stove, I don’t agree to the arrangement you propose – I would prefer buying it of you at half price – and I engage to find a case for it – So you may sell it to me when I return. –
The dancing goes on very well – today they are taking a rest. –
Your affectionate
Constance
Thank you for Mr Williams’s letter. –
