Septr 20th 1853

Dear Sir

In preparing some notes to a paper intended to be read before the Society of Antiquaries I have found occasion to mention the burial place of Sir Gilbert Talbot master of the Jewell House to Charles II. 1 May I then trouble you to inform me whether he lies buried at Lacock & whether – if so – any mont remains there to his memory? He appears to have died in 1695. If no epitaph is in the church recording the day of his death &c perhaps you will have the kindness to refer to the burial registers.

I see that Burke in his notice of your family states the last Sherington Talbot to have died an infant This was not the case. He was M.P. for Andover at the time & he was slain in a duel by Captain Love an officer in the Hampshire militia – 2

I have the honor to be Dear Sir Your very obedt humble Servt
