My Dear Constance
I propose to set off on Monday for the Alps if I can get a good travelling servant for so short a trip. I went to Lacock Monday & returned Tuesday. The weather there was cold stormy & rainy, I was enabled however at intervals to visit all the gardens – the painters plaisterers &c were at work in the house and it is to be hoped will soon comple<te their> jobs.
I approve highly of your idea of giving a fête, which I think had better be given during the first settled weather you have, & while the days are at their longest, and you can all stroll in the garden.
Yours affly
Henry
I have given a copy of the great book to Ld Lansdowne
I have business at Paris besides wishing to see Monte Viso again
