I have engaged a foreign servant well recommended, G. Fino by name, a native of Piedmont. I propose to start on Monday evening. Direct to me Poste Restante Turin Italy. I expect to be back in 3 weeks – You need not forward any letters to me unless there is written on them ‘to be forwarded’.
Please to correspond with Mrs Williams about Charles’s holidays – I think Goodwin had better go at once to Dummer House and fetch him.

Henneman has made some pretty portraits of Ernestine.
Caroline has also sat to him, I have not seen her portrait. Goodwin will probably reach Gretabank on Tuesday. I told you in my last how much I approved of your giving a little rural fête to your neighbours.
