Greta Bank 1
Thursday 1/2 past 11.
My dear Henry
We have a most awful storm since about this time yesterday, which kept increasing in violence towards evening – The gusts of wind are tremendous, something like what we experienced at the Equinox – It rains less this morning than it did yesterday, – the wind seems to carry the clouds too swiftly. I believe it comes from the west, yet is felt more or less on every side of the house. – I am glad you accomplished your journey before it came on so bad, though your two travelling days must have been sufficiently uncomfortable –
I am hoping that our messenger will bring me a letter from you today. Nothing more to forward to you yet. Our Gardener ( MacDonald 2) is come back from visiting his Parents in Scotland. He told me yesterday it was time for him to order his Garden seeds for stocking the kitchen garden, as Peas & Beans must be put in as soon as the ground is got into a fit state. I have given him permission to do so – He also asked for Annuals, and I promised him I would write to you to know if you can bring him down some from the Horticultural Society – I mean Flower seeds – Can you get them now? I remember last year they kept us waiting for them a long time –
The barometer is rising –
Your affectionate
Constance.
I enclose a note of commissions for Goodwin 3 –
