My Dear Constance
The trial ended today and the Jury found a verdict that <illegible deletion> I was the true inventor of the Talbotype process, but that the process which the Defendant used was not an infringement of it –
This will I am afraid lead to fresh litigation.
The Jury understood little of the subject, but trusted to the Judge, and the Judge fell into awful mistakes, not being able to comprehend the processes; which he had never seen tried.
I intend to come down to Lacock tomorrow Thursday by the evening express – Friendly compliments to our guests – I hope you had not such a rainy day as we today.
It is impossible we can rest content with the summing up <of> the Judge –
Your aff
Henry
Send the little carriage to meet me at 7 oclock if not wanted elsewhere
