Dear Sir,

In consequence of William Carey’s death I have been requested by a very respectable young Man named – Pullen of this Town to ask your permission to Employ him at Lacock as Tiler & Plasterer – I think it highly expedient to infuse a little fresh blood into the Parish, and from several years knowledge of Pullen I can with confidence recommend him – He would, with your Sanction, at once remove to Lacock and make interest with the other Gentlemen in the neighbourhood.
