London Thursday 26 April
My Dear Constance
I wrote you a full account of all that occurred at Harrow yesterday which was material to be related. I hope Charles will get on comfortably, the weather today is very fine and pleasant for him to make acquaintance with his new locality.
Today I went over to Kew Gardens where I always find many plants worth seeing – I should think the collection of palms & Tender ferns must be the most extensive in the world. Such things can only be seen at a great national establishment since no private Stove or greenhouse could afford room for their growth.
I intend to return Saturday evening, plan to send the carriage to meet me at Chippm at 7 oclock, if it is not otherwise engaged – When you are at Bath you <ill.del.> will find it easy to see Glastonbury for there is a new railway open from Bristol to Glastonbury all the way. It turns off from the Exeter line, 12 miles beyond Banwell station. Distance from Bristol to Glastonbury 40 miles time 2 hours & a quarter.
Adieu Your affte
Henry
