Edinburgh
Monday 17th Septr
My Dear Constance
Before I got to Edinburgh I felt much better.
Charles & I are lodged comfortably at Tait’s Royal Hotel – We took an early dinner, a walk before dinner & a drive after. I have given him a nice copy of Rob Roy but the Gaelic vocabulary which his sisters asked for, is apparently not to be had – Strange that the native tongue of Scotland should be unknown in its capital!
I hope you arrived comfortably at Dunkeld – the weather grew very fine this afternoon till 4 oclock after that it grew hazy – I have received very nice letters from Mr Scrope & Mr Awdry about the réunion at Lacock. These I will send tomorrow to amuse you
Your affte
Henry
