TALBOT7183

Lacock Tuesday Oct. 2

My Dear Constance

I enclose a little book about the Scottish Regalia which interested Charles & me very much at Edinburgh. It may serve as a model for all such little books – As a fortnight of your cottage at Dunkeld has now elapsed, it is time you should consider whether you wish to stay on for another month or fortnight, and speak to the lady of the house accordingly – which I leave to You to decide as you like best – I propose to return to Scotland in a week or Ten days, I hope you will be able to squeeze me in but the cottage is very small and if it is too small I must I suppose depart again & while away the time at Blair Atholl or in the isle of Skye. Which however I do not particularly wish as the Season of the year is somewhat too far advanced – I am glad that you all like Dunkeld – I always thought it a very picturesque spot, and that is the reason I advised going there – Have you visited Birnam wood yet? It would take a long time to see all the rides & drives. I will give Meredith the money to pay the maids – she had no objection to their leaving – when I am gone she will go and see her little girl, as soon as she has finished preserving the peaches &c.

adieu Your affte

Henry
