My dearest
We have received I believe all your letters, tho' the first was long coming, tho' only from the Pont de Beauvoisin.1 We heard of you at Lerici from the Aubergiste who described you & Giovanni. We broke the Coupé 2 in that bad road between Borghetto & la Spezia, indeed an English carriage is too good for [illegible deletion] such usage. I long to hear you are safely landed in Sackville St 3 with that fragile Bale of goods Merin, it is too bad of her to run the risk of being ill on the road for want of eating enough when Mr F. 4 paid her board wages up to the uttermost day of her travelling to London. I cannot think how I shall ever get thro' the winter here! Pray write often to beguile the weary hours
God bless you
Baron de Zach 5 wants you to write something
There is a reading Society here where we might have all the books We sent for to Paris - how provoking. I have just read the Age of Bronge, 6 I dont like it, there is much bad taste in it. It is excessively inferior to the Island. 7
