My dear Henry

I send you a letter from Sarah Spedding to read before you started this morning – that you might see what her Mother wished you to do in helping her to find a Courier. – This is in consequence of your recommending one to M^rs John Spedding when she was at Lacock, talking one day of the probability of this same Foreign tour. If you can help her in any way, you would save time by writing to her yourself to Greta Bank, instead of sending messages thought me. – And you might ask her, if you think proper, to name one of her relations in London to when you would refer this same Courier, and so get him to take the trouble off your hands – If you recommend a trustworthy man, they may surely conclude the negociation themselves by means of their own agent.

I have looked through my memorandums of moneys paid to M^lle A. All was made straight in May 1854 – after which we have to account to her for £200 – of this we paid in June 1854 £12

The last sum was asked for as a loan until the matter was settled – because previously to this, you had proposed to pay £150 into Stilwell’s hands; paying to herself the small difference of £3 – with interest due on account of having kept the money in your own hands beyond the usual period – It is beyond my ability to calculate this interest – but I suppose you w^d do it in a few moments. – I shall be very glad to hear that you take the opportunity of being in London now to settle this business – Pray don’t forget your Banner! –

I hope you & Charles have had a very good journey to London – and that you prospered in sight-seeing on your arrival there. How the weather has been warm, gloomy & oppressive all day –
