I have completed a translation of the Cylinder of Tiglath Pileser the first, which is in the British Museum. ³ It is a very curious document belonging to the remote age of 1120 before Christ, in short contemporaneous with the siege of Troy (of which event I need hardly say it makes no mention)

But though silent on that subject, it enlarges on many curious things hitherto unknown –
