TALBOT7444

Ramsgate Tuesday.

My dear Henry

We keep to our intention of reaching home on Friday (via Devizes, as you advised) – but I cannot form an idea as to the hour that we shall be ready for the carriage to meet us – because we shall have the Cathedral to see before we start from Salisbury, and afterwards Stonehenge, on our land progress from Salisbury to Devizes – Therefore Pullen had better take the carriage over in the morning part & wait our coming – We will drive to that large hotel, situated in the market place – I think it is The Bear – But Pullen will easily find us, by keeping a good lookout. Don’t send George with it – we shall not want him at all. Will you be so good as to order Morgan to make all necessary preparations for our return on Friday? – as she will have to provide. – &c. We will sleep tomorrow, (Monday) at Hastings, and on Thursday at Salisbury – From Salisbury we will forward our luggage & 3 servants by train at 1ּ5 – due at Melksham at 3ּ7ּ Pray give orders for William Knee to take the Cart over to bring the luggage – and to have a Fly from the Inn waiting at the Station at that hour. – If Mlle Amélina or any one of our party should grow fainthearted about Stonehenge, & decide on going by train with the Servants & luggage, it will be a satisfaction to me to know that the fly is ordered at Melksham. –

We have had most beautiful weather & very hot, ever since our showerey day (Thursday the 20th,) – And we have enjoyed the Sea breezes very much only the place is too full, & our lodgings not clean or comfortable.

Your letter yesterday afternoon as well as <ill.del.> one in the morning gave much pleasure to your girls – Thank you also for the one your wrote to me on arriving at Lacock Abbey. – I am afraid we shall find the heat at home, very over coming.

Your affectionate

Constance. –
