I have opened the big letter as you wished; and find that the Holidays end of on the 28^th – They began on Tuesday 30^th March, which makes a total of 4 weeks and one day, to Wednesday April the 28^th – I am afraid that Charles’ desire of spending a little while at Lacock does not fall in with your ideas – for if you come to Edinburgh on the 15^th he cannot leave soon enough to make it worth while to go round by Lacock – If you have yourself no particular desire to revisit Edinburgh, why shouldn’t Charles go at once to you at Lacock – where you would see him so much more comfortably than you could here – or suppose you were to let him stay with us till Monday the 19^th – which is is only a liberal week longer here – & would give you a liberal week of his society at Lacock – I am sure that is what he would like best: and if you yourself chuse to join us at Edinburgh previous to our remove to Keswick, and with the intention of going on with us there you would still be able to do so, by starting the same day as Charles, namely the 28^th, but if otherwise we should find no difficulty at all in winding up matters at Edinburgh without you – I could collect all the Bills a week or ten days before the time, and give you a pretty accurate idea of how much money we shall require – I merely suggest this in case you may feel disinclined for the journey, or engaged with business at home which might make the journey inconvenient. – And really, unless you particularly enjoy these long journies, it seems scarcely worth while to give yourself so much trouble for so short a time –

We envy you your mild rainy weather, – here it has continued dry with bitter East wind – Today & yesterday however are a great improvement, inasmuch as the sun is bright & warm, and the air still – but <believe?> what wind there is comes from the same quarter. –
