TALBOT7766

My dear Henry

I expect you will have Charles with you on Tuesday next – for I hear from him this morning that is the day his Holidays begin – I did not think they began so soon by a week, or I should have tried to write to him earlier than yesterday to suggest the plan of his joining you at Lacock – for the remainder of your stay. I hope however he will receive my letter quite soon enough to make this easy. And that you & he will have the a very comfortable time together. It will be fortunate if I succeed in engaging a Cook before you come; for we are rather short of hands in this house where there are so many Servants’ rooms to clean – I think we shall settle down very comfortably after a few more days – but at present there is much bustle – All the heavy luggage having arrived and unpacking in full progress –

The view from the back windows is charming, and the gardens are a very great acquisition – The weather this morning is bright & mild – We are going out soon to enjoy it –

Constance

I hope you have recd three letters from the Girls – Thank you for forwarding Major Wake’s.

I am writing a line to Rebecca to prepare Charles’s room – And I have told Charles if he wants the carriage to meet him at Chippenham, to send word to George – in case you shd not rise in time.
