My dear Father.

The Farmer would not reduce the price of the poney so I had to buy him at the 20 £. I must get a bridle – saddle and sheet and Morley ¹ reckons that at about 5 guinea’s at least, but they may be more. However as there is going to be a great sale near here in a few days, we may be able to get some a good deal cheaper. This day is particularly dull and wet, and indeed we have not had a really fine time day for some time.
