Dear Sir,
I thank you very much for the Specimen of Seend iron which you have kindly sent me, I will shew it as opportunity offers to such of my friends as are interested in the discovery of the ore and manufacture of the metal. I observed yesterday both furnaces at Westbury “in blast.”
I have sent you a County paper containing an account of the trial of the Spaniard, Serafin Manzano, for Murder – He was convicted and is left for Execution. I succeeded in getting a mixed Jury – The trial was fully reported in the Times of the 28th or 29th March – Unless a respite or reprieve arrives in the meantime he will be executed at Devizes on the 11th inst 1
I remain yours obliged
West Awdry.
