F office
15 June 1860
Dear Sir
I enclose your passport, for which I have paid 2/-
Rawlinson’s translation came from Persia I think in 1850, it was printed forthwith, and ought to have been issued with the Babylonian Memoir; but in the absence of instruction the Council did not like to publish it, and so it remains. Of course he could do better now; as for instance in the case of the Scyths "with shields on their heads," where I think the word s is magenta the Hebrew <Hebrew text> or <Hebrew text> I forget which. I have noticed others, but the inscription is not before me.
I am in much haste
Edwin Norris
