British Museum,
October 10th 1860
Dear Sir,
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 6th inst. respecting the Assyrian Cuneiform inscriptions here. You are aware, I believe, that Sir H. Rawlinson has undertaken to edit some of these inscriptions, and that he has not yet completed them: if you would communicate with Sir H. Rawlinson andcome to such arrangements or understanding with him as might be necessary to avoid interfering with his work, I should be happy to bring your application before the Trustees; and I have no doubt they would afford you every facility to carry on your investigations.
I remain, Dear Sir, Yours very truly,
A Panizzi
H. Fox Talbot, Esq.
