My dear Henry
A box from Garden’s the Chemist bearing date April 17th has arrived for you just now. – It appears to have lain some days at the North British office, Edinburgh, from want of the further instruction or address how it to be forwarded thence to Gogar Station on E. & G. line – I am so glad to find by your letter of Tuesday, recd this morning, that our business transn with Sinclair answered so well, in the saving of time – and that on the whole you are pleased with the contents of your box. – Ela had also a letter from you later in the day, & by it I find that you had another satisfactory frame to add to the former. It is curious that instead of your having a difficulty to fill the space allotted you, the authorities should make a favor of giving it you at the last. – How much anxiety it would have spared you to have known this before! – I had thought of asking Sinclair for his bill, (the order being completed) & have received it this morning – I meant to have kept it till your return, but now enclose it since you wish me to do so. –
Don’t suppose that you Londoners are specially favored by this change to mild Spring weather – We have it here in all its sweet freshness – and the lovely green both of shrubs & grass shews more & more each day – and there are just showers enough to keep the earth watered & make everything grow. –
What day will you be at Lacock? – I am afraid Goodwin will have scarcely time to look round and examine carefully into the state of the house s & premises –
your affectionate
Constance.
We have not heard from Charles yet – Perhaps he was very busy the first day after his return to Cambridge –
I forwarded a letter to you yesterday. –
